Cthulhu R Us

Do check out the other Call of Cthulhu groups on the other networks. Also check out our sister group Cult of Nyarlathotep. We humorously like to call this group “Cthulhu for Pagans.” Pagans seem to have a bizarre fascination for everything Cthulhuesque. If Stephen had the power to influence the Old Ones, he would get them to devour all the Republicans and their ilk. The Republicans and their ilk are going to destroy this planet, if given their way. A destroyed planet is of no value to the Old Ones so maybe they’ll see the logic in his desire. Don’t worry about Stephen; he just has a fanatical hatred of everything jesoid and right wing. He has dark fantasies about the destruction of the Republicans, right wing jesoids and their ilk. He says they would make a good food and slave source for the Old Ones.

The Necronomicon is based upon Sumerian religion and magick. Do not believe it when people say that HP Lovecraft (Hewlett-Packard) was an early innovator in the personal computer field. Naw, we’re just kidding. originated all the material in the Necronomicon. But you see, they haven’t done their research. If they had, they would have found that H.P. was inspired, but did not create the Necronomicon, but it was an ancient German manuscript called “The Way of the Sage”. On the Putty Network, (http://puttynetwork.ning.com) we are working on the manuscript called the Necroputtycon, or “The Way of the Paw.” But seriously, folks, a young man in Tennessee of our acquaintance has located several documents that are the source materials for the Necronomicon. And all this time I’d thought Lovecraft had made up the whole thing, that it was an entire fiction. One of the best translations was the one by Herman Slater, creator of the occult shop Magickal Child. My daughter visited Magickal Child during one of her many visits to NYC, and got some things; oil of lavender, purifying bath salts, and a wooden box for one of my many Tarot decks. Herman Slater was obsessed with all things Cthulhu mythos.

We’re still trying to get the funds together to obtain the 1st person shooter Cthulhu computer game. If you know of an rpg that is based upon the Cthulhu mythos please post here, or in our other Call of Cthulhu groups. We do have a board game Arkham Horror, and an rpg based upon the Cthulhu mythos. The rpg gave its name to this species of group. The copy Stephen owns is a writer’s copy, and he has many of the original scenarios. We hope soon to play it using the Paganspace.net chat facility. I will be portraying the nonplayer characters and the monsters. We would appreciate if you members know of other Cthulhu groups out there letting us know about them, and how to join them for the purposes of networking.

Donald Tyson, besides being a renowned qabalist, has become somewhat of an authority on the Necronomicon and has 3 books on the subject out: Necronomicpn: The Wanderings of Alhazred, and a big fat book about Alhazred the author of the Necronomicon. You can probably still get it at Amazon.com. Me, I’m just going to read Stephen’s copy. Then there’s the Tarot decks about the Cthulhu mythos: Secrets of the Necronomicon by Donald Tyson, and the Dark Grimoire deck by Michele Penco, instructions by Giovanni Pelosini. We have both done successful readings with these decks. I have to be in just the right mood to read with them, bur Stephen always seems to be in that kind of mood. This mythos can affect your subconscious in a very deep way. One of the ways it shows itself is in your dreams. Lovecraft has a thing called the Dreamlands. In fact, Stephen had a dream about the Dreamlands today whilst he was sleeping his virus away. In the dream, he’s talking with the different authors, and how they died, Herman Slater dying of AIDS. He also talked about the Cthulhu mythos, and the people were all interested in what he had to say. He’d been to this meeting hall many times before. He can only speak for himself, but he finds that the Cthulhu mythos is like an intoxicating drug, and he just always has dreams about it. Let’s hear about your experiences in this regard.

Have any of you played either Arkham Horror or Call of Cthulhu? If you have had experiences with either or both of these two games, do post here about them. Also if you have any ideas about how to use these games, please post your ideas here. You know, Lovecraft was not the only author of this kind of mythos. There was also August Derleth and H. L. Mencken. I have read August Derleth’s writings, but not Mencken’s. Have any of you read the novels, the graphic novels, or even the screenplays for the many Lovecraftian movies? We want to hear from you! Perhaps you have penned a graphic novel in this vein. Do tell us about it. We’re very interested in your feedback about your dreams, reading, playing the games, and even writing about it. We are limited to only our own personal experience and knowledge. By your adding your own personal experiences and knowledge you enhance this group.

What is your opinion as to why Lovecraft wrote such horrors? Some say he was suffering from some sort of degenerative disease, but he could just as easily been under the influence of some sort of strange drug. “To worship me, take strange drugs, whereof I shall tell my prophet, and they shall harm thee not at all.” (LL2:22) Maybe it was both, he had a disease and he took a drug to relieve its symptoms, which gave him hallucinations and nightmares, which he immortalized in writing. Stephen says that Lovecraft had Hodgekins’ Disease. Many people consider Lovecraft to be a genius and Stephen is one of those. Other writers who followed in Lovecraft’s footsteps were August Derleth and H.L. Mencken. There is also Robert E. Howard, who created Conan the Barbarian, the king of sword and sorcery. One wonders what was wrong with them. There is also Brian Lumley, who was a Brit, and isn’t dead. He wrote from the time he was a young boy and did it fulltime when he retired from the British Army in 1980. I got this info from the Wikipedia. As far as we know, he’s still writing, and still not dead. Not everyone who followed Loveccraft is dead. What ever happened to Sandy Peterson, creator of the game Call of Cthulhu? Stephen hasn’t heard from him in 20 years. If you know please post here. . .

If you know anyone who wants a fairly cheap housing situation with two congenial Pagan magickal housemates in an ethnically mixed neighborhood in Sacramento, contact me at tezra.reitan@gmail.com or Stephen at abbottsinn_school@yahoo.com or Stephen at his phone number 916-455-2267. Also, we desperately need donations to keep Abbott’s Inn International School of Magick afloat. You can send donations of any size to either Stephen’s Paypal account at abbottsinn@gmail.com or abbottsinn_school@yahoo.com or my Paypal account at tezra.reitan@gmail.com. If it’s for at least $32, you’ll get either a reading or a class from our vast collections of divination decks/methods/tools or for the class, pick a topic from our vast repertoire in the field of magick. For $60, you can actually have both a reading and a class. I don’t have my webcam hooked up yet, or my mic, but with Stephen you can have sound and video on Yahoo IM, Windows Msgr or Skype. With me for a short while, it’ll be just phone or typing on Yahoo IM or Windows Msgr. Thank you for using and disseminating Stephen’s Zodiac referral number 1-800-280-8496. Stephen1580. It helps ever so much when you use it instead of the regular number because you don’t pay any more, but he makes three times as much. We’re both on SSI, thanks to Arnold Schwarzenegger drastically cutting both of our checks, and Keen isn’t coming up with the paying calls. I haven’t made one cent since signing on with Keen. My clients all demand free five minute readings, and refuse to go over that five minutes for a paid reading. In fact, it’s cost me money to bid so altogether, Keen has been pretty much of a total loss for me. If you need money, kids, mow lawns or babysit, don’t join a psychic reading service, because it’ll just suck in what little money you do have.

Do check out the PaganRadioNetwork.net It’s free, although they certainly do accept donations. Doesn’t everyone? Seems like everyone has his hand out nowadays, and we’re sorry to be part of that, but the situation is dirt. We almost lost our power yesterday. In these times of smaller SSI checks, a bankrupt state, and practically non-existent paying KEEN calls, the prices just seem to be rising all the time for less and less service or quality.

Stephen and I are in a bad situation with our Social Security. It didn’t come. I got my SSI all right, but not my SSA. Stephen didn’t get any of his. The people at Folsom Blvd. majorly fouled up. In my case, all they had to do was send my check to my bank on the 31st of December. A couple of clicks of the mouse and it would be done. .

In order to keep his computer alive, or perhaps get a new computer, Stephen needs a new battery and Windows 7, because Vista is just too unreliable. Vista is the worst operating system since 98. But first Stephen has to pay off his rent, and so do I. Don’t buy a Dell or do business with Wells Fargo. They’re both ripoffs.

If you’re ever in Sacramento, look up Walter Rhoads and Julie Maahs. Together they own Gallery 14 at 14th St. and 60th Avenue. We’re promoting them big time. Walter Rhoads has a very interesting and different approach to art. He compares himself to the late great Jackson Pollock but there are two main differences: Rhoads is still drawing breath with a healthy 98.6 degrees temperature (except when he’s sick, in which case it’s somewhat higher) and I think Jackson Pollock was gay, and Rhoads is, like us, hopelessly hetero.

We certainly hope you’ve enjoyed this post. Sorry about my negativity up there, but I’ve been very depressed by this economy lately, and wishing I were with Doc in the Summerland.
